As a member of the Eunomian sect, Philostorgius provides a revisionist account that challenges the dominant narratives sanctioned by the Roman government. His writings offer a unique dissenting perspective on the church and empire during the fourth and early-fifth centuries, often contradicting and supplementing other historical accounts, thus enriching our understanding of this pivotal era in Christian history.
