More about the book
The present paper gives an overview about the Lake Hiidenvesi Research Project which was built to clarify the structure and function of the food web of eutrophic, clay-turbid lakes. Lake Hiidenvesi ist situated in southern Finland and it consists several separate basins with variable water quality. Studies of the role of bacteria, phytoplankton, macrophytes as well as planktivorous and piscivorous fish in the food webs were performed. The results of the project have implications for lake restoration, since the effects of clay-turbidity on the effectivity of food web management are poorly known.
