More about the book
A flower speaks of beauty, desire, death and transcience. In paintings and cut-outs the Danish artist Marianne Therese Grønnow organises abstract floral motifs in lines, geometries and grids in order to create spaces of her discoveries of complex spiritual and aesthetic systems and edifying practices. Not so much to adopt them as to play with their inherent possibilities. In this way Grønnow’s work is the product of a modern spiritual idealism, which is neither romantic nor systemic, but intensely present. The monograph traces the evolution of an artistic journey from 1990 until 2010, guiding us through a transcendent landscape, of inspiration from art history, sci-fi and alchemy.
