Untersuchungen zum Udānavarga unter Berücksichtigung mittelindischer Parallelen und eines tibetischen Kommentars

A comparative study of the Central-Asian „vulgata“ of the Udānavarga (a mixture of the Sarvāstivāda and Mūlasarvāstivāda recensions of the text) in close comparison with its Middle- Indic parallels Dhammapada, Gāndhārī Dhammapada, Patna Dhammapada and Prajñāvarman’s Udānavargavivaraṇa. Balk succeeds in reconstructing large portions of the Mūlasarvāstivāda recension which is commented upon by Prajñāvarman. An indispensable tool for all further studies on the Dhammapada-Udānavarga literature.
