More about the book
Two New York physicians, pathologists, explain how humming & singing & even screaming & loud talking cleanse the brain by stimulating drainage. Loud vocalization activates & stimulates the brain's equivalent of lymphatic system. Vibrations of the larynx & air in the vocal tract are partially transmitted onto the cranium & soft brain envelopes. Mechanisms of "pumping" the cerebrospinal fluid containing waste materials out from within the brain are explained. This "Singing in the Brain" not only makes the human brain a "cleaner" computer, far superior to the brains of animals; it also has implications for evolution: The Cro-Magnons have prevailed over the Neandertals because their brains could be cleansed. The vibrations of the larynx were too weak & of too low a frequency to bring the massive skull bones of the Neandertals into resonance. Some changes in the skull shape of modern mankind are also explained as effect of human culture. Parents, teachers & educators will have to get familiar with this principle as also reported in MEDICAL HYPOTHESES 25: 17-20.
