The story follows Fatima, a young woman facing a series of misfortunes on her journey from the West. After being shipwrecked in Egypt and adopted by a weaver family, she finds herself captured and forced to work in shipbuilding. A second shipwreck off the coast of China leads to her realization that these challenges are vital for her growth. Richly illustrated by Natasha Delmar, the tale is a blend of Greek folklore and Middle Eastern and Chinese artistry, teaching children about perseverance and the importance of overcoming obstacles.
