More about the book
Based on lecture notes from a five-week polymer processing laboratory course taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this text provides background on polymer processing for engineering students and practicing engineers. According to the author, „It is written at two levels: an introductory level for students and engineers unfamiliar with polymer processing, and a more advanced level for more in-depth material.“ The more advanced level is „shaded“ to distinguish it from the introductory level. The book presents enough information so that, with their fluids and heat transfer background, engineers can understand and solve polymer processing problems. Contents: Introduction to Polymers. Mechanical Behavior of Polymers. Rheology of Polymer Melts. Extrusion. Mixing. Injection Molding. Secondary Shaping. Other Important Polymer Processes. Appendices-Extrusion Laboratory. Injection Molding Laboratory. Blow Molding Laboratory. Thermoforming Laboratory. Film Blowing Laboratory. Transport Phenomena Equations. Properties Table. Subject Index. Biography.
