More about the book

Uschi Huber is an important figure in the current wave of German photography, part of a group of young photographers who have established themselves at the forefront of the international photography scene. The photographs presented here emerged out of a three-year project by German photographer Uschi Huber in which, during the years 1997-1999, she walked various European highways, capturing their speed, anonymity, utility and jarring industrial intrusion into the natural landscape. The accompanying text by Daniel Stemmrich discusses the behavior of people in cars and his intermingled joy and fear of the road.
