More about the book

Since 2005 Carlos Cazalis has been photographing some of the world's largest cities, Occupy Sao Paulo being the first chapter in his Urban Meta project. As one of the world's mega cities reaching a population of 20 million, the city of Sao Paulo perpetuates a tremendous urban stress to its residents, especially in terms of habitat. Cazalis series shows the homeless sleepers in the streets of the megacity, the illegal occupations in the outskirts and of buildings downtown Sao Paulo as well as the gated community areas outside the city.
