Katja Schmiedeskamp illustrierte schon als Kind ihre Schulbücher, und so lag nichts näher als ein Studium in Grafik-Design an der Fachhochschule für Kunst und Design in Hannover. Dort lebt sie noch heute mit Katze und Pferd, hat an der Hochschule einen Lehrauftrag und illustriert für Kinderbuch- und Schulbuchverlage.
