The Art of the Motorcycle

This magnificent book covers an exhibition that toured the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilbao and the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago in 1998/99. Based on their technical and aesthetic merits, more than 100 motorcycles were chosen for entry in this exhibit which spans the history of the motorcycle from the first production bike to 21st-century prototypes; each entry is accompanied by a detailed description. Essays by Dennis Hopper, Hunter S. Thompson and Ikuy Sato, among others, examine the motorcycle in film, fashion, popular culture and history, and explore our fascination with the two-wheeled machine.
