Juko Matsuda was inspired by the events of February 2022, when during the severe escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the sky over Kyiv was heroically defended by Ukrainian pilots of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade. The feat of the Ukrainian aces gave rise to the legend of the Ghost of Kyiv, a MiG-29 pilot who achieved six aerial victories in the first 30 hours of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, shooting down two Su-35s, two Su-25s, a Su-27, and a MiG-29.
