More about the book

The need to interconnect LANs and storage area networks (SANs) across dispersed enterprise and campus environments is dramatically increasing. To meet this need, a new generation of SONET and dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems has emerged. These systems provide the functions of multiple network elements in a single platform called a multiservice provisioning platform (MSPP). Cisco Systems provides a MSPP called the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform for both service provider and enterprise networks. The Cisco ONS 15454 provides time-division multiplexing (TDM), SONET/SDH, DWDM, and data solutions. Data solutions include support for both Ethernet and SAN applications.
