More about the book
A novel about the current topic of refugeehood by the award-winning Swiss author Irena Brezna. A young woman flees from a dictatorship and ends up in a wealthy country. She revolts against the new host country, which imposes its rules on her and does not allow her to be herself. She believes that where one can complain, there one is at home, and she makes great use of this motto. However, she also encounters many other stranded people who hope to make something of their lives: petty thieves, the depressed, street-smart individuals, war refugees, the exploited, over-adapted, and naive. And she learns to view exile and foreignness as a wealth, becoming a bridge-builder between cultures.
