Shanghai urban planning

This book presents basic information about Shanghai and highlights some key urban development projects undertaken since China initiated reform and opening-up. While reviewing the many rounds of urban planning Shanghai has gone through since 1844, the book examines in detail the "2001 Comprehensive Urban Planning," covering such aspects of Shanghai's urban development as its positioning, size, industrial development, transportation, residential building, and preservation of historical sites. It also introduces the management system of urban planning in Shanghai as well as related procedures of examination and approval.
