From the Preface.It has been known for some years that the incidence of skin cancer is much higher in Ireland than in England of other areas of equivalent latitude, and this fact has been regarded as an expression of the greater susceptibility of Celts to the development of skin cancer. In a survey of world incidences of skin cancer Segi found that the death rate for males in Ireland was the third highest after Australia and the white population of South Africa, and for females fourth highest after Australia, white South Africa, and new Zealand.
