The Salzkammergut-Lokalbahn (SKGLB), operating from 1893 to 1957, connected Bad Ischl to Salzburg as a narrow-gauge railway. It served up to 2.15 million passengers annually. Despite its importance, it was discontinued due to public protests, and plans for electrification were abandoned. Restoration efforts are currently underway.
