More about the book

Ex-USAF colonel Matt Eberhart is with a whore in Wiesbaden when two German agents rush into his room, knock the girl out with a needle, and whisk Matt off to White Oaks, Virginia, the vast estate of zillionaire R. J. Coyle, a former OSS buddy of Matt's father-in-law Campbell Cooke. Coyle's pitch is an agent of his left a pouch full of $2 million worth of diamonds in a hotel safe in Kampong Som, so Matt should go into that bloody country now being devastated by the Khmer Rouge and recover the stones; in return, Coyle will transfer Matt's son, a quadraplegic who has been in coma for a year, to the superexpensive Frankl Institute, in Zurich for top treatment (the boy and Matt's dead wife Diana were blown up in a bomb attack on Phnom Penh). Matt says O.K., requesting the aid of his old Cambodian killer-guerrilla buddy Kam, but as the two of them are flying Matt's son to Zurich by jumbo jet, a murder shot is made on Matt by a woman agent (the second mysterious attack on him). Undaunted, the twosome slips into Cambodia, where Matt reawakens an old love affair with API stringer Jillian Leggett; and with Kam they penetrate the hotel and find the pouch. Then all hell breaks loose as they try to fly out again. . . . Lots of action and ordnance, heavily spiced with viands and sex
