The Yellow-Legged Asian Hornet - A Handbook

The Asian or yellow-legged hornet, introduced to southern France around 2004, has rapidly spread across western Europe, with increasing incursions into the UK since 2016. By 2023, 72 nests were discovered primarily in south-east England, raising concerns about their establishment. This invasive species poses significant threats, preying on native insects and honey bees, and can be highly aggressive when their nests are disturbed, leading to serious injuries or fatalities.
