Under the Skin

Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, the story follows James Rudolph Youngblood, known as Jimmy the Kid, who serves as an enforcer for the powerful Maceo brothers in Galveston. After escaping a troubled childhood on a West Texas ranch, Jimmy discovers a new life filled with illicit activities and finds mentorship under Rose Maceo. The narrative explores themes of loyalty, survival, and the quest for belonging in a tumultuous era.
