Set in 1981 Dallas, the story follows Stan, a lawyer hosting a Christmas party to thank his clients, only to find himself embroiled in a murder case when one of them is killed. Accused of the crime, he must also defend a college student charged with murdering her newborn, despite his inexperience. To navigate the trial, he recruits his former professor, known as "Snake," who proves to be unreliable due to his alcoholism and personal issues. As the trial unfolds, Stan faces mounting challenges and personal turmoil.
