More about the book
György Faludy's life story is a remarkable journey through the tumultuous events of the 20th century. As a Jewish poet in Hungary, he fled the Nazi regime, served in the US Army during WWII, and returned home to support a democratic Hungary, only to be imprisoned by the Stalinist government. After enduring forced labor, he escaped during the 1956 revolution, living in exile until the fall of Communism allowed his return. Celebrated for his enduring and relevant poetry, he remained active in literature until his death in 2006, leaving a lasting legacy.
