More about the book

This book emerges from a heartfelt desire to see Zambia united, with its diverse tribes living harmoniously under one flag. During the struggle for independence, Zambians united against colonialism, adopting the motto "One Zambia One Nation" and singing songs that celebrated their unity. Our national history reflects a journey marked by both tribal conflicts and moments of solidarity, as the people have often come together to overcome divisions. However, recent times have seen the rise of toxic tribalism, which threatens to dominate our political landscape and influence traditional and church leaders. This toxic mindset is evident in attitudes towards those from different tribes, political affiliations, and regions, fueling a desperate longing among many Zambians for unity. In this book, I explore significant past events that shaped our nation, alongside current issues affecting Zambia. I aim to highlight the importance of understanding our history to foster unity and peace, especially for the younger generation who may not grasp the value of our collective past. While older generations may appreciate the need for unity, younger people often perceive differences in names, languages, and regions, which can lead to disunity and potential conflict.
