Throughout eight years as England's manager, Bobby Robson has maintained a dignified and cautious silence on everything other than matters relating directly to the team he cares so much about. He had refused to comment on some of the press campaigns directed against him, on the personal attacks on his character, often made by ex-players, and on the numerous criticisms made of his style and approach to the job of team manager. Now he breaks his silence to put forward his side of the story.
