Designed to supplement intermediate-level Chinese language curricula with exciting cultural material, this book allows students to study and learn the Chinese language by providing speaking and conversation practice. The book consists of twenty lessons, with each lesson featuring a brief story (approximately 300 words in length) based on actual living situations and experiences of foreign students in China. Each lesson contains six segments: a short story, new words and phrases, questions and answers, sentence patterns, sentence forming, and conversation practice. The series assumes familiarity with the "One Thousand Most Frequently Used Characters" from the Chinese Language Press Institute's "List of Three Thousand Characters Commonly Used in Newspapers." Black and white illustrations throughout.
