Benny Badger had good reasons for living on the high, dry plains, where he had plenty of ground squirrels and prairie dogs for neighbors. He likely enjoyed their company much more than they did his. Those little wild creatures would probably have admitted they wished Benny Badger was somewhere else. However, their wishes meant nothing to Benny. Although he noticed that his small neighbors hurried into their homes whenever they saw him, he never took the hint to leave. Instead, when he spotted a prairie dog or a ground squirrel disappearing into a burrow, Benny was eager to follow right in after them.
