Wives, mistresses and daughters under the Frankish kings are discussed from a literary and historical perspective, set within the context of the political history of the period. One of the chapters is devoted to Caterina Cornaro, wife of James II, and a member of one of the leading and most wealthy families in Venice who also had a residence, family ties and ambitions in Cyprus.
