This catalog is a companion to an exhibit at the Palm Springs Art Museum featuring work by 26 American photographers, who present diverse perspectives, interpretations and techniques that push the visual boundaries of desert photography. Organized into three major themes--land/sky, environment, and living--the exhibition loosely suggests a visual narrative that begins with the photographer's journey through the land, then reflects the dilemma of reconciling human use and environmental values, and concludes with isolated desert houses and abandoned structures.
