A British soldier and adventurer, T.E. Lawrence first became famous by helping to organise an Arab revolt against Turkish rule in World War I. He was renowned for his personal courage and daring exploits, and after the war he continued to fight for Arab independence. He died tragically, in a motorbike accident, but remains a legendary hero.
