More about the book
Benjamin Steward, a time-traveling “Character” from the year 2578, is sent to the year 1856 on a mission. A wealthy collector, a man desiring unique historical objects, wants a new addition for his museum: a recording of Abraham Lincoln’s “lost speech” in Bloomington, Illinois. Yet from the first, Steward’s mission is plagued with problems. His initial scouting expedition deposits him the day after the speech, creating the risk of “cancellation”. When he returns with a team to record the speech, he must deal with an unalterable deadline, the suspicions of the locals, and a team member whose instability threatens the mission.
