More about the book
They said of the Swedish natural artist Bruno Liljefors that 'he went out with a gun and came home with a painting'. You could say almost the same thing of Jan-Peter Lahall: he goes out with a camera and comes home with a piece of art. For this book he has chosen among his best 'paintings' from Örebro county and has arranged them after the cycles of the year and of nature. The starting point for his roaming in nature is Örebro county, a country of variations- Sweden in miniature, with its diversity and contrasting models of landscape. We are invited to accompany him through pasture-lands, mosses, bogs, and meadows, over fields and into deep forests and out to big lakes like Hjälmaren and Vättern. With an intense stringency and concentration, with poetic playfulness and strength he finds his motifs and gives us a possibility to come very close to a marvellous and varied scenery of nature. Jan-Peter Lahall, here making his debut in book form, was appointed The Nordic Nature Photographer of 1993. The reporter Clas Thor has rendered complementary poetic texts and also a short article portraiting the photographer.
