More about the book
In 1746, following the defeat of the Scottish Highlanders at the Battle of Culloden, the English government launched a brutal campaign against the Scottish people. Innocent men, women, and children were executed, forcing many Scots to flee their homeland. Jamie MacDonald, mourning his father and brothers lost in the massacre, decides to escape with his mother in search of a better life in the New World. Their journey is fraught with tragedy, leading Jamie to be pressed into service on a pirate ship led by a ruthless Spaniard whose dark past captivates him. Upon reaching the New World, Jamie transforms from an innocent youth to a man driven by self-preservation and a fierce will to survive. As he navigates the wilderness, he believes he has found his destiny intertwined with a Choctaw warrior-shaman, who foresaw Jamie's arrival. Together, they confront the harsh elements and adversaries intent on their destruction. Their ultimate battle will determine their fates, as they fight for survival against overwhelming odds.
