Harald Hauswald Book order

Anlässlich des 30. Jubiläums des legendären Werks Ost-Berlin hat der Jaron Verlag 2017 eine vielgepriesene Neuausgabe herausgebracht. Als Ergänzung zu diesem hochwertigen Bildband erscheint nun auch eine neue Ausgabe des erfolgreichen Postkartenbuchs Ost-Berlin. Es enthält 15 der besten und bekanntesten jener Motive, mit denen der Fotograf Harald Hauswald 1987 gemeinsam mit dem Schriftsteller Lutz Rathenow ein Denkmal der anderen Art für Ost-Berlin geschaffen hat (so der Historiker Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk). Den Umschlag ziert Hauswalds vielleicht bekanntestes Foto aus jenen Jahren: Drei in der U-Bahn.

"Ost-Berlin" is the testimony of a city that has disappeared, one that since the opening of the Wall is now only a legend, even if it lives on as an echo, in its architecture and above all its people. In its original form the book was published in 1987 in West Germany. Banned in the GDR, it nevertheless attained cult status there. This new edition includes previously unpublished photos by Harald Hauswald as well as an essay by Lutz Rathenow on the history of the book's impact.
