This book is intended to synthesize what is currently known, and simultaneously propose a partial revision of Antarctic echinoid systematics. These efforts are complemented by a database on CD-ROM which takes advantage of cross-referencing protocols that can extract and integrate data relevant to the Antarctic echinoid fauna. It comprises information about 81 echinoid species, includes illustrated keys for the determination of the species, and information about their morphology and ecology (text, illustrations and glossary), their distribution (maps and histograms of bathymetrical distribution); the sources of information (bibliography, collections and expeditions) are also provided.
