Focusing on the management of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), this study explores banking sector reforms in India and the regulatory framework surrounding NPAs. It highlights the concerning rise of NPAs in financial institutions and analyzes trends across various bank groups. Findings indicate a significant reduction in NPAs, with foreign banks leading in asset quality despite a decline, while public sector banks and private banks show improvement. Recommendations include establishing a proper database and utilizing compromise settlements and legal avenues to aid banks in effective NPA management.
