Focusing on phase-field modeling, this work explores various formulations of thermodynamic quantities within a grand potential model. It emphasizes the importance of thermodynamic and mobility data in determining parameters from datasets. The framework is applied to investigate the solidification processes of Al-Si-Mg alloys, considering variations in composition, diffusivities, and surface energy anisotropies. The simulations are validated against established solidification theories, providing a comprehensive analysis of the modeling approach.
