This book has been produced with a great deal of ecological correctness and presents Native and imported species of crayfish and other decapods. It deals with keeping and breeding the species currently available in the zoo- and delikatessen-trade in aquaria and garden ponds, as well as the associated environmental problems. This book is aimed at nature and environmental enthusiasts, as well as aquarium and garden pond owners, who would like to take a closer look at decapod crustaceans. The book reflects the author's many years of experience with keeping and breeding various crustaceans. In addition, horseshoe crabs, as well as terrestrial and brackish water crustaceans are also presented. This also includes terrestrial hermits and the so-called cockroach-crabs of the genus Aegla.

This work is based on the WORLD REGISTER OF MARINE SPECIES (WORMS), which is an international platform of science. This includes the currently valid scientific names and systematics of our recent marine animals. This book presents more than 600 different species of marine and freshwater molluscs. It also includes some species of sea urchins, starfish and arthropods, bringing the total number of diverse species to more than 780. The work places the species in the context of their habitats, their survival and reproduction strategies, and their aquaristic durability, if live specimens can be obtained. This book presents both: The live animals for the vivarists and their empty shells for the collectors. Many of the species shown here are not common, unusual or even rare. In addition, some photos of original habitats and aquarium photographs round off the work. In passing, the book also comments on some current environmental problems, which are unfortunately usually not mentioned in conventional works on this subject. A very informative book, which should inspire reflection and action at the same time.

A heat wave works its way under the sea surface with increasing speed from south to north. The season "winter" obviously did not take place at all in the southern North Sea at the turn of the year from 2019 to 2020... The temperature measurements of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency in Germany speak volumes. Actually, there should be alarm sirens going off all day long... A further indication of the climate catastrophe can be found under the sea surface: namely the shift of the fauna of the English Channel to the north, which is now beginning to establish itself on our coasts in the German Bight. This work takes a closer look at several known and lesser known species of invertebrates and fish and places them in the context of climate change. It provides various convincing arguments against all deniers of the climate catastrophe, which is already subtly announced by the faunal change...
