V knize Válka a konflikt ve středověku renomovaný americký historik Stephen Morillo seznamuje čtenáře s globální historií ozbrojených konfrontací mezi lety 540-1500. Popisuje však i některé pozdější sváry. Středověk totiž nevymezuje přesně podle letopočtů, avšak obdobími, která byla formována změnami klimatu a pandemiemi. Morillo zkoumá ozbrojené konflikty ve všech částech světa, od Číny a středoasijskou step až po jihozápadní Asii, západní Evropu a americké kontinenty.
