Yan DONKO: The Philippines in Chinese Paintings - Depicted by an Austro-Chinese Artist – Exhibition Catalogue. National Museum of the Philippines (Museum of the Filipino People) - Manila 2012 Yan Donko is an Austrian painter with an ethnic Chinese background who lives only temporarily in the Philippines. Born in Shanghai in 1965 she lived in many different countries and sees the world from a very individual perspective: “There are many Philippine artists who expressed the rich cultural heritage of this wonderful country in their pictures. I do not try to compete with the local artists; but as I had already depicted typical Austrian landscapes and historical buildings with traditional Chinese techniques, I was tempted to try this approach also for the Philippines” The book contains 70 paintings of Yan Donko
