Finnish photographer Nelli Palomäki (*1981) searches for the lost magic that was once inherent in photography in the days when having your portrait taken was something special. Palomäki’s timeless black-andwhite portraits of children and young adults reveal the fragility of the moment shared with her subject. Her photographs deal with growing up, memory, and mortality. In the artist’s own words, “We fight against our mortality, denying it, yet photographs are there to prove our inescapable destiny. The idea of getting older is heartrending.” Exhibition schedule: Ordrupgaard, Charlottenlund, Denmark February 8–April 1, 2013 | The Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki, Finland January 16–April 21, 2013
