Matthew Baker was an American comic book artist, most celebrated for creating the crimefighter Phantom Lady. Active during the Golden Age of comics in the 1930s and 1940s, Baker specialized in "good girl art," a subgenre known for its depiction of attractive female characters. He also contributed to an early form of the graphic novel with the digest-sized "picture novel" It Rhymes with Lust. Baker's distinctive style and focus on compelling female figures left a notable mark on the comic art landscape.
