Almost all riders have the ideal image of the riding horse in mind: The poll is the highest point, the nose slightly in front of the vertical. This image is emulated in many places and often it is enforced with more or less horse-friendly methods. But how natural is riding in a raised and round neck outline? What does it mean to the musculoskeletal system to carry a rider, to canter, to show lateral work or to jump? How do you prepare the horse so that he can grow old without any physical problems? How do you know if the saddle really fits and what do musculature and gait reveal about training and health problems? The equine osteopaths Barbara Welter-Böller and Maximilian Welter have long been working on the dissemination of this knowledge at the College of Osteopathic Equine Therapy, because they are convinced: „We can ride horses with a clear conscience if we have a blueprint and work them in a gentle manner.“
