Jeder weiß, der Kauz hat Grips. Viele Kauze kennen Tricks. Doch nur ich, zur Unterscheidung, bin ein Meister der Verkleidung. Superkauz ist kein gewöhnlicher Kauz: Kometengleich saust er durch die kalte, schwarze Nacht, er hat Grips, und vor allem kann er sich – darauf ist er stolz – supergut verkleiden. So ist keine Beute vor ihm sicher! Erspäht er ein leckeres Kaninchen, verkleidet er sich zum Beispiel als Karotte. Klappt nicht, macht ihm aber gar nichts! Denn Superkauz hat schon ein neues Opfer im Visier: eine köstliche Taube. Trotz raffinierter Verkleidung (als, nun ja, Vogeltränke) funktioniert es wieder nicht. Superkauz ist vielleicht doch nicht so gefährlich wie er glaubt … Irgendwann kriegt er trotzdem etwas besonders Feines zu fassen – kein Tier zum Glück, so viel sei verraten. Ein witzig erzähltes, von Jean Jullien ebenso humorvoll illustriertes und außergewöhnlich gestaltetes Buch, das kleine – und auch größere – Leser entzückt.
