Der Autor: Peter H. Feist studierte Kunstgeschichte, Geschichte und Archäologie in Halle, wo er von 1952 bis 1958 als Assistent und Lehrbeauftragter arbeitete und 1958 promovierte. Anschließend war er an der Humboldt-Universität in Berlin tätig, bevor er von 1982 bis 1990 Direktor am Institut für Ästhetik und Kunstwissenschaften der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR in Berlin (Ost) war. Feist ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen zur Kunstgeschichte und Kunsttheorie, bei TASCHEN erschienen seine Bände Pierre-Auguste Renoir und, als Ko-Autor, Impressionismus. Er lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Der Herausgeber: Ingo F. Walther (1940-2007) wurde in Berlin geboren, studierte mittelalterliche Geschichte, Literatur und Kunstgeschichte in Frankfurt und München. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche Bücher über die Kunst des Mittelalters sowie des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts. Bei TASCHEN erschienen unter anderem Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso und Codices Illustres - Meisterwerke der Buchmalerei.
