Zeměplochu pomalu naplňují duchové, a skupina bojovníků za práva mrtvých má najednou víc práce něž kdykoliv předtím. Zatím se kdesi daleko na venkově objeví podivný, velmi skromný cizinec, který, jak se ukáže, umí skvěle zacházet s kosou. Jeho obrovský bílý kůň se skvostným postojem sice vypadá jako kradený, ale začínají žně a každé ruky je zapotřebí. Cizinec nastoupí jako výtaný pomocník na farmě slečny Zahořalé a pustí se do práce, i když chvílemi tak nějak po svém…
Čarodějky na cestách
Celé poslání se jevilo velmi jednoduché. Koneckonců co těžkého je na tom, postarat se, aby si obyčejné služebené děvče nevzalo prince, zvláště když ho nechce? Jenže poněkud netýkavá a samolibá kmotřička sudička tak jednou rozhodla a na sňatku trvá. Bábi Zlopočasná, Stařenka Oggová a Magráte Česneková chtěji ubohému děvčeti pomoci, a vydávají se proto na cestu do dalekého města Genovy. Háček je v tom, že kromě svých kouzel, založených především na hlavologii, s sebou mají pouze tajemné vúdú paní Gogolové, jednookého kocoura Silvera a magickou hůlku, která dokáže jediné - vykouzlit dýně.

A Magráta Česneková, čarodějka, se má ráno vdávat... hosté na královskou svatbu se už sjíždějí a od Ankh-Morporku se blíží dostavník, v němž jede pozvaná delegace mágů. Co bylo dál, se dozvíte v již čtrnáctém díle Úžasné Zeměplochy.
