En agosto de 1936, a comienzos de la Guerra Civil, la pensadora Simone Weil, que aún no ha cumplido treinta años, se dirige al frente de Aragón para unirse al Grupo Internacional de la Columna Durruti. Allí, sufre un accidente y acaba regresando a Francia. De los cuarenta y cinco días que pasó en España poco se conserva: un pasaporte, notas para un Diario, cartas y fotografías de ella con uniforme... Para Simone, actuar, escribir y pensar eran una única y misma cosa. Y en todo la guiaban la pasión y el deseo de justicia. A lo largo de la obra no solo seguimos los pasos de Simone Weil, sino también los de otros milicianos, asistimos a alguna polémica, y nos acercamos a la visión (aparentemente opuesta) del escritor Georges Bernanos sobre la Guerra Civil, que se hallaba en Mallorca. Pese a las diferencias ideológicas entre ambos, una carta de Weil a Bernanos desvela hasta qué punto ser testigos de la violencia supuso para ambos un cambio.
