Betty Rhyzyk, die rothaarige, knallharte Drogenfahnderin vom Dallas Police Department, erholt sich nur schwer von den Verwundungen an Seele und Körper, nachdem sie der abscheulichen Meth-Sekte von Evangeline Roy entkommen ist. Sie ist unruhig, schreckhaft und unleidlich, selbst gegenüber ihrer geliebten Frau Jackie. Ihr Frust wird sogar noch größer, als sie von ihrem Vorgesetzten zum Innendienst verdonnert wird. Denn das Dallas Police Department hat Probleme: Ein neuer Player eines mexikanischen Kartells ist aufgetaucht – El Cuchillo, »das Messer«, ein besonders brutaler Killer.
