Vivien Alcock

    September 23, 1924 – October 11, 2003

Anna Alcock was a celebrated author of mystery and fantasy fiction for young adults, whose works often delved into the liminal spaces between reality and the supernatural. Her prose, shaped by an earlier career in commercial art, is characterized by vivid imagery and a compelling atmosphere. Though initially hesitant to step into the literary spotlight, her debut novel for teenagers marked the beginning of a successful writing career. Alcock's stories, frequently exploring the tension between the ordinary and the spectral, resonated with young readers and many were adapted for television.
