I když se Andrzej Sapkowski proslavil svým geraltovským cyklem, rozhodně se neomezuje pouze na tohoto hrdinu. Tato kniha jej představuje jako autora studie o nejznámější a nejslavnější středověké legendě o králi Artušovi a rytířích Kulatého stolu, v níž se mu úspěšně daří bořit mnohé zažité stereotypy. Na tuto studii mnohé navazuje Sapkowského osobité zpracování části artušovského mýtu v povídce Maladie.
