Berkely Mather

    February 25, 1909 – March 7, 1996

Berkely Mather, the pseudonym of John Evan Weston-Davies, was a master of espionage thrillers and family sagas, drawing deeply from his extensive life experiences. His service in the British Army and time spent in India imbued his narratives with authenticity and depth, particularly in the tales featuring the sardonic agent Idwal Rees. Later in his career, he shifted towards historical family sagas, charting the fortunes of families across the Near and Far East with an epic scope spanning generations. Mather's ability to craft compelling characters and intricate plots made his works stand out.
